Field Studies & Adventure at the Donegal Adventure Centre in partnership with Field Studies Council.

Donegal Adventure Centre (DAC) has been providing educational adventure tours to schools and youths for over 20 years. We specialise in educational school tours for secondary level students with our extremely successful Language & Adventure programme that is consistently endorsed by the Department of Education in their subject inspection reports. Field Studies Council (FSC) and Donegal Adventure Centre have over 90 years’ experience combined delivering high-quality outdoor learning and decided to join forces in 2019. ‘Field Studies & Adventure’ has been designed to deliver a programme that makes outdoor learning both educational and enjoyable for everyone. All teachers and instructors are professionals selected for their ability to combine education with the concept to have great fun and get the work done.

Field Studies Programme Options

The Donegal Adventure Centre and the Field Studies Council centre called Lissadell Estate in Co. Sligo work exclusively together to deliver this successful programme. The following programmes are available at Lissadell Estate and are delivered by the Field Studies Council to all age groups.

On the right is a sample itinerary of a two-night residential ‘Field Studies & Adventure’ trip. 

For one-night stay exclude Day 1 and include from 5 pm on Day 2 of the above itinerary. 

Accommodation & Activities 

The DAC is one of Ireland’s premier education and adventure facilities. Accommodation in centre I & II includes ensuite and standard rooms for up to 120 students, with all bed linen provided, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge room and classroom. Lunch and dinner are served in our onsite restaurant with home-cooked food served daily. Breakfast and supper are served in the centre and we cater for all dietary requirements.

24 Hour Supervision 

We provide 24-hour supervision so teachers and leaders can sit back and relax or join in on all the fun if they wish. All activities are led by fully qualified and experienced instructors. We ensure that all our instructors are Garda-vetted and are child protection trained. Each instructor is certified by all national governing bodies and emergency care trained. The DAC has stringent health and safety procedures in place regarding ratios and safety standards that each group must adhere to.

Fully Organised Trip

The Donegal Adventure Centre is a purpose-built facility for school and youth groups. Operating procedures, child protection policy and insurance certs are available upon request. Our office staff will assist with all pre-trip arrangments and provide each group with What To Pack Lists, parental consent forms and room allocations before you arrive. During the trip teachers and leaders can be involved as much or as little as they want to be.
